Vegas Pub Crawler: Featured Beer of the Week – Citradelic Tangerine IPA

IPA style beers are quickly making their way to becoming the most popular style of beer in the craft brew industry. With the fresh tastes of floral hops creating aromatic and fruity notes in the beer, these beers are the perfect beverage to enjoy this spring. In preparation for the upcoming spring, New Belgium released a tangerine IPA this January. The citrus notes combined with the floral and bitter bites of the hops create a perfect blend of refreshing and crisp tastes.

Citradelic offers the perfect middle ground for those who are not a fan of the intense hoppiness of traditional IPA and enjoy crisp citrus notes in their brew. Eleven hops are mixed and steeped throughout the process to give the bitter bite. Floral aromas come through with the hops as well as the blend of citrus, tropical fruit and pine hop.

When you first take a sip, you will taste the tangerine peels infused in the brew, and as the beer develops over your taste buds to the back of your tongue, a well-balanced bitterness and malty sweetness takes over. Most IPA will have an International Bitterness Unit (IBU) around 60 and above. Citradelic lands on the mild side of 50 IBU, giving you just the right amount of kick. Ale yeast is used in the brew to give the beer a six percent ABV.

Citradelic can be enjoyed on cool days pairing well with citrus chicken and greens. Skip the coffee with your dessert and, instead, pair your Citradelic with a rich chocolate cake or pastry. The next time you are on your DTLV pub crawl, be sure to try out New Belgium’s Citradelic.
